Angel, a young man from San Augustin, Mexico benefits from the efforts of Mision:Brain and goes through his last and final surgery.
The documentary team was there to capture it all.
Our film tells the trials and tribulations of the origin-story of Mission:Brain , an organization dedicated to providing neurosurgical support in underdeveloped countries. Witness the remarkable origin story of this life-saving mission, intertwined with the gripping surgeries that transform despair into hope.
In a community with few heroes, Dr. Q shines as a beacon of inspiration. His remarkable achievements defy the odds and stand as a testament to unwavering passion and conviction. In the face of harsh anti-immigrant and anti-Mexican rhetoric, he soars, embodying the indomitable immigrant spirit. Dr. Q's story transcends borders and classifications, resonating with communities far and wide. His work alongside Mission: Brain, reaches beyond boundaries, touching and transforming countless lives, reminding us of the shared humanity that binds us all.
As artists and filmmakers our purpose is clear: we choose to tell stories that resonate with society, particularly within the Latino community. We recognize that traditional television often falls short in providing enough role models for our youth to look up to. It brings us immense joy to know that our work is nurturing the vision of extraordinary individuals like Dr. Q and organizations like Mission: Brain, giving them a platform to amplify their voices.
Beyond simply raising awareness for their cause, my artistic aspiration is to empower Latinos and people of color to believe that they too can become brain surgeons or create meaningful change from a simple idea. To achieve this, we must extract the challenges, obstacles, significant failures, and sacrifices from their stories, illuminating the hundreds of triumphant moments that have defined the 13-year journey of Mission:Brain.
